Good Neighbor Tips

To continue to make The Orchards a desirable and safe place to live, here are some things to keep in mind.  You don't have to love your neighbor, but being respectful and friendly is the neighborly thing to do.  Plus, homes in good neighborhoods with a strong sense of community increase in value more quickly in general, and maintain value better in down markets.
  • If you see something suspicious going on, call 911.
  • If you're having a party, inform your neighbors to expect additional cars, people, and possibly noise.  Even better, invite us!
  • If your neighbor is having a party that you think is too loud or has some unruly guests, inform the neighbor -- before calling the police -- to give them a chance to rectify the situation.
  • Pick up after your dog.
  • Give your neighbor a heads-up that you're planning a major home renovation before they find out about it from the Architecture Committee.  No one likes to be the last one to know.
  • Get involved in the Home Owners Association, even if it's just being a member of a committee or being an At-Large Board Member.
  • If you know your neighbor is out of town and their newspapers or mail is piling up, pick it up.  What comes around goes around.
